FAQ

Funerals

We recommend contacting a funeral director to make arrangements for funeral (or memorial) services to be held at the church, however you are welcome to contact the Parish Office with any questions you may have.

The Cemetery

Newport Cemetery is managed by the council and enquiries should be directed to their Bereavement Services on 01522 873646 or bereavementservices@lincoln.gov.uk. If you are visiting the Cemetery during church opening, you’re more than welcome to call in for a cuppa.

Book of Remembrance

We compile a list of names for the Book of Remembrance from the funerals held here. You can also apply to add a name to the list – please contact the Parish Office for this. Names will be added to the Book of Remembrance periodically by the calligrapher. A small donation is appreciated.

Electoral Roll

If you would like to be added to the Electoral Roll or have any questions regarding the handling of your personal data, please speak to Fran Bell or contact the Parish Office.

Lifts to Church

We try wherever possible to find lifts to church for those with mobility problems. We are always looking for more volunteers who have space in their car for a passenger or two. Please contact the Parish Office if you’d like to volunteer, of if you need to make use of this service.

Church Opening

In addition to services and special events, the church is open Monday – Saturday from 10am – 11am.

Students

Students are always welcome at St Nick’s. We’re just a short stroll from BGU, or a gentle hike up the hill from UoL. We sometimes run events just for students – get in touch to find out what’s on offer.

Liberal & Inclusive

We’re proud to be part of the Inclusive Church Network https://www.inclusive-church.org/.

Here’s our shared vision:

“We believe in inclusive Church – church which does not discriminate, on any level, on grounds of economic power, gender, mental health, physical ability, race or sexuality. We believe in Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”

Communion – Open Altar

Anyone can take Communion at our altar, you don’t need to have been Confirmed.
